Investing in Spelman Students from Metro Detroit

The Detroit Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) awards scholarships to Spelman students who have ties to the Metro Detroit area. Through these awards, we help cover tuition, fees, and other educational expenses so students can focus on learning, leadership, and service.

Who Is Eligible?

Michigan Residents

Awarded to current Spelman students who live in and graduated from high school in Michigan.

Strong Academic Record

Applicants should demonstrate solid academic performance and be enrolled or accepted as full-time students at Spelman College.

Service & Leadership

We look for students who are engaged on campus or in their communities and who embody Spelman’s commitment to leadership and service.

What You’ll Need to Apply

How the Process Works

  • Review eligibility – Confirm that you meet the basic criteria listed above.

  • Gather documents – Collect transcripts, recommendations, and essay.

  • Complete the online form – Available on this page during the application window.

  • Application review – The Detroit NAASC Scholarship Committee reviews all completed applications.

  • Award notification – Selected recipients are contacted via email and announced during chapter communications.

2026 Detroit NAASC Scholarship Application

On behalf of the Detroit Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (Detroit NAASC), we would like to invite you to apply for a scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Detroit NAASC awards scholarships to current Spelman students from Michigan. Due to limited resources, this is a competitive scholarship, so applying does not guarantee an award.
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and look forward to receiving your application.

Application Process & Guidelines

  1. Scholarship Deadline: will be July 1st at midnight. Unfortunately, no submissions will be accepted after this date.
